THE CHATEAUNEUF CASTLE
Guided tours to learn about the military history and power of Burgundy, with a collection of furniture
The Château de Châteauneuf is a marvellous testimony to the military history and power of Burgundy. Remodeled several times between the 12th century and the present day, the château is nevertheless in a very good state of preservation. The Conseil régional de Bourgogne Franche-Comté, which has owned the site since 2008, offers guided tours of the castle's various rooms. The 12th-century keep, the 15th-century Grand Logis and its 17th- and 18th-century rooms, Philippe Pot's 15th-century Logis, the chapel and the 14th-century south tower: all have been accessible to people with reduced mobility since April 2, 2024! Inside, you have access to a fine collection of furniture deposited by the Musée des Beaux-arts de Dijon, the Centre des Monuments nationaux and the Musée des Arts décoratifs de Paris.
An interpretation center in the Logis des Hôtes provides a fun, interactive introduction to the history of the château. Videos and tactile aids help visitors to get to grips with the site and its history in an intuitive way. Immersive escape games, themed guided tours and a variety of cultural events are also organized throughout the year. The château has a rich cultural season - ask for the program!
After your visit to the château, take a stroll through the medieval streets of Châteauneuf, a village classified as one of France's most beautiful villages.
