Located at the south end of the same name (Daguanlou Gongyuan), located at the beginning of Dian Lake, the original pavilion of Contemplation was built in 1690. Damaged twice during wars, the current building, consisting of two floors of square shape and a covered roof of yellow tiles, was restored in 1866. It is located opposite the Yongyue source. The columns regulating the door of the pavilion contain two long sentences of 180 pictograms each, composed by Sun Ranweng, a popular poet Buyi who lived under the Qing dynasty. According to the Chinese, it is the «longest sentence under heaven».
