A portico carved in a rock wall leads to a path to the steps dug in the stone, sometimes so narrow that it is difficult to cross. The construction of the Dragon Gate and the other caves on the edge of a vertical mountain, the Luohan, was undertaken in 1781; the work lasted 72 years. In steep walls have been dug many halls, bridges, railings, pedestals and statues. First, there are stairs to a few Chinese pavilions attached to the mountain, built during the Ming dynasty and later transformed into Taoist temple, the Sanqing.
