The monastery of Monte (11th century), in a green landscape, will give you a pretext for a beautiful walk. However, it must be earned. Continuing southwards, a very bad road leads to the small fishing port of Karkinagri. In passing, note the street named Lenin which illustrates the ideological trend that continues to prevail on the island. From Ikaria, it is then possible to visit the Fourni islet, which houses a few villages (as well as rooms for rent), and Thimena (without tourist facilities).
