MUSEO JOSÉ CELSO BARBOSA
This small museum, located in the original house of the Barbosa family, traces the history of José Celso Barbosa (1857-1921), a physician, sociologist, politician and great defender of rights. He was born in Bayamón and grew up there, before studying at the University of Michigan, where he obtained a doctorate in medicine. He returned to his native land in 1880 and fought for the practice of his profession and the right to dignity. As a political player, he participated in the emancipation of the Puerto Rican people and founded two daily newspapers: El País and El Tiempo.
