Arilje has a population of around 6,762. The municipality of Arilje, of which the town is the center, has a population of around 18,725. Arilje lies at an altitude of 330 meters and is bordered by the Rzav Golija, a tributary of the Moravica. The town lies close to the confluence of these two rivers. Arilje's climate is subalpine, with average annual temperatures of 7.1°C. Precipitation varies from place to place, with an average of 68 days of snowfall per year. Arilje is surrounded by the municipalities of Požega to the north, Čajetina to the west, Nova Varoš and Ivanjica to the south, and Lučani to the east. Tourism in Arilje is mainly focused on the surrounding nature, especially the Zlatibor Mountains.
