SAINT-ACHILLE CHURCH
The Church of St. Achilles in Arilje, built in the 13th century in the Raška style, is included in the list of cultural monuments of exceptional importance in Serbia. From an inscription in the dome, we know that the interior of the church was decorated in 1296. It was first the cathedral of the bishops and later the cathedral of the metropolitans of Moravica. The present church was built on the initiative of King Stefan Dragutin at the end of the 13th century after the Tartar devastation. A rare thing in this country: a panel in French tracing its history.
