Smaller desert with dunes, very windy climate in Carcross, with remnants of a lake from the Ice Age.
Two kilometres before arriving at Carcross from Whitehorse, you may be surprised to see sand dunes on your left. Here is the surprising testimony of the remains of a lake from the Ice Age. You can see for yourself the unique plants that grow in this windy desert climate. These dunes are sometimes referred to as the smallest desert in the world, although scientists do not really encourage the use of the term desert because of the occasional passing rainfall in the area.
