ABBAZIA DI MORIMONDO
Abbey with a Latin cross plan, a facade and a very simple structure in Morimondo.
Consecrated in 1296, Morimondo takes its name from the French abbey of Morimond where the Cistercian monks who founded it came from. The word means "to die to the world", that is to say "to live as resurrected people", a motto that directed the life of the Cistercians. Its Latin cross plan, a very simple façade and structure show the extreme sobriety to which the order was dedicated. Inside, there is a beautiful 14th century font decorated with flowers, a wooden choir from 1522 and a fresco by Bernadino Luini(Virgin and Child surrounded by saints).
