CASTELLO BOLOGNINI
Favorite residence of Regina della Scala hosting three museums in Sant'Angelo Lodigiano.
The favourite residence of Regina della Scala, wife of the Duke of Milan, Bernabò Visconti, the present castle, built in 1370 in the traditional Lombard red brick, has a rectangular plan flanked by corner towers, around a large central courtyard of older medieval origin (1224). Its beautiful silhouette, silhouetted against the sky, can be seen from afar. The castle houses three museums:
Museo Morando Bolognini: a private collection of works of art belonging to Count Morando Bolognini, including furniture and paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, the tour passes through more than 24 richly furnished rooms. Of particular interest are the series of wrought iron works, the library with more than 2,000 ancient volumes and the armoury.
Museo del Pane: a small and curious museum that gathers, in four rooms, pieces and utensils from all over the world necessary for the making of bread. The "grain-flour-bread" cycle is explained in all its stages. Take the time to discover more than 500 different forms of bread made in the Italian regions and in Europe.
Museo di Storia dell'agricoltura : documents and objects from the Neolithic period to the modern era, through the Antiquity, the Renaissance and the Middle Ages, and important pieces of evidence of the first mechanization of agricultural techniques. Focus on the agricultural activity of the Lodi region and on the contributions of extra-European agriculture to the Western agricultural production system
