MUSEO INTERNAZIONALE DELLA CROCE ROSSA
Museum tracing the history of the Red Cross and its activities.
This museum traces the history of the Red Cross and its activities. An institution that dates back to 1859 when, following the battle of Solferino, the women of Castiglione provided assistance to the many wounded. However, it is to the Swiss Henri Dunant that we owe its creation in 1876. Struck by the human damage of the battle, he organized, at his own expense, the assistance to the wounded soldiers. The town's church became an improvised hospital that took in about 500 patients.
