MONASTERY NUESTRA SEÑORA DE VALVANERA
A medieval abbey in Anguiano named after the patron saint of La Rioja, Our Lady of Valvanera.
Our Lady of Valvanera is the patron saint of La Rioja. Valvanera comes from the Latin Vallis Venaria, which could be translated as the valley of water veins, streams, springs and waterfalls. This name already appears in a document of 1016. The Benedictine monks make a liqueur scented with herbs gathered in the mountains surrounding San Lorenzo. The abbey dates back to the Middle Ages and has transformed some of its rooms into comfortable hotel rooms.
