The Château can be visited inside and outside every day. Located in Commarin, at the foot of the charming village of Châteauneuf, this property is a journey through time that begins in the 15th century when it was a fortified castle. Inhabited by the same family for 26 generations, Bertrand de Vogüé, its owner, does everything possible to make this treasure accessible and attractive. Inside, discover architectural and furniture treasures from the 17th and 18th centuries, including a splendid collection of heraldic tapestries from the 16th century and the beautiful library which contains an original edition of Diderot and d'Alembert'sEncyclopedia ! Take a tour of the 14th century chapel, which houses an interesting terracotta tomb, or the old kitchen with a huge cast iron stove dating from 1880. Outside, admire the two round towers, the moat and the gardens. You can enjoy the immense English-style park, sheltered by its hundred-year-old trees, all year round, until 8 pm on sunny days. It covers more than 35 hectares. Concerts (piano recital, oratorio...) and plays are even organized on certain weekends in this enchanting setting.
In the enclosure, a restaurant-wine bar: the Café du Château. You can enjoy a glass of local wine from the Coteaux de l'Auxois in the air-conditioned room or on the terrace. From there, you have a superb view on the castle, you can stay until sunset. Creative, the team of the Café proposes to have lunch at any time of the day with salads and cold meats/cheeses or a picnic formula made of regional and organic products. The setting makes you want to get married, so don't worry, you can reserve the sumptuous 17th century stables built on the model of those in Chantilly.
If you feel like strolling around, you can visit the Boutique. A bookshop area has a beautiful collection of books on Henri Vincenot, a local author to discover. Gourmet products and emblematic wines of the region are available to taste or to take away.
When you like it, you shouldn't leave, go to the houses of the Château. You can stay in the Maison Seguin or the Pavillon de Chasse, for a weekend, a week or more.
