ESTANCIA JESÚS MARÍA
Jesús María monastery and factory complex, converted into a museum in 1946
The site dates back to 1618. At the time it was mainly known for the production of a wine: the lagrimilla that Philip V tasted in Madrid. The Jesuits bought the property of Guanusacate (name granted by the Sanavirones) with its 20,000 vines, 250 cows, 25 oxen and 30 pigs. The rooms of the 300 slaves are no longer visible, but nowadays you can visit the church, the residence, the cellar, the ruins of the old mill, etc. The structure served as both a monastery and a factory. The complex was converted into a museum in 1946.
