STIKINE RIVER
A large river over 600 km long in Wrangell with many migratory birds and other wildlife.
Stikine River, or Stik-Heen in the Tlingit Aboriginal language, means great river. More than 600 kilometres long and originating on the Spatsizi Plateau in the Canadian province of British Columbia, this river, or rather this river, flows just a short distance from the town of Wrangell into the Pacific Ocean. The town of Wrangell is therefore the starting point for any "adventure" on this river. Indeed, there are many things to do and especially to see along this river which crosses the coastal range. First of all, its delta covers a total area of 11,000 hectares and offers the many migratory birds a privileged breeding ground; geese and ducks are at the forefront of the 120 species present. During the month of April, bald eagles congregate here to revel in the hooligans, small fish that travel up glacial rivers to breed. And then, of course, bears, elk, otters and many other wild animals are very present to participate in this great gathering. Different options are possible to discover this Eden. From flying over in a seaplane to descending in a canoe or even going back up in a boat, everything is possible, but don't forget to bring your camera (a paradise for photography enthusiasts)! A must in the region that will please all adventurers and all nature and wildlife lovers!
