MOUNT DEWEY TRAIL
Stairway with a beautiful panorama at the top of the city offering a relatively easy hike.
A relatively easy hike from Wrangell town centre, only 500 m away, allows you to "climb" the hill overlooking the town. A path laid out in the form of stairs allows you to meet the innumerable squirrels inhabiting the forest. They are easily spotted by their inimitable shrill screams. From the top, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city, its port and the ocean on the horizon. John Muir, an American writer, wrote a book entitled Travels in Alaska, based on his experience of a night spent by a campfire on Mount Dewey.
