The Nam Theun 2 reservoir is an extensive man-made lake created when a major hydroelectric project flooded the plateau in 2008. The village of Thalang is next to the bridge crossing the Nam Theun River, along the Nakai Plateau and the Nakai Nam National Protected Area. Boat and kayak tours are available. Please note: Google Maps does not show this reservoir, i.e. in case you are using this application to find your way around .
