FESTIVAL DE PARINTINS

This folk festival is one of the great festivities of the country and features two rival groups that compete for days
The town of Parintins, in the vast state of Amazonia, is home to Brazil's second-largest folk festival after Carnival. More than 100,000 people come to cheer and support the rival schools of Garantidos (red) and Caprichosos (blue). Disguises and floats rival each other in boldness and beauty, just like in Rio. The city comes alive every day. Six hours of non-stop festivities enliven a city that's quiet the rest of the year in the bumbodromo, a stadium in the shape of an ox's head.
