The cities of Windsor in Ontario (Canada) and Detroit in Michigan (USA) lie opposite each other, separated by the Detroit River. A tunnel links these two points, and the crossing takes a maximum of 15 minutes. However, if you're planning a short stopover on the other side of the border, make sure you have all your papers in order for customs (allow plenty of time). It's worth noting that it's possible to use public transport through the tunnel, with the Tunnel Bus line (see the City of Windsor website for timetables and fares).
