Opened in 1935 in a building built by the Campeau family according to the plans of Albert Kahn, Cliff Bell's bears the name of its founder, John Clifford Bell, a character well known during the prohibition era for the numerous speakeasies (illegal bars) he owned. Closed between 1985 and 2005, Cliff Bell's is now run by Paul Howard, Scott Lowell and Carolyn Howard. The bar features live entertainment and is known for its high quality jazz scene, cozy atmosphere and excellent food.
