Founded in 1996, the association Pierre de Bourgogne aims to promote, communicate and advise on the stone of Burgundy, its professions and its use. It comprises about thirty Burgundian companies: craftsmen, stone tailors, sculptors, carriers, builders, surfers and laviers. Regional richness with world reputation, there are more than 80 varieties of Burgundy stone extracted in 5 ferry basins located in the 4 departments of the historic Burgundy region, the Saône-et-Loire, Côte d 'Or, Yonne and Nièvre. The Stone of Burgundy is located around the world in emblematic monuments such as the Staircases of the Louvres, the Doha Islamic Art Museum in Qatar, the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the British Museum in London, the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris… Since June 29, 2018, La Pierre de Bourgogne has received a geographical indication. Geographical Indication is an official sign of quality and origin, issued by INPI, which can be used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities, notoriety or characteristics related to that place of origin. The Association Pierre de Bourgogne manages the defense and management of the geographical indication and makes the connection between operators, INPI and the control body.
