Come discover the flavors of freshly ground coffee at Caffè Gufo. The owner, Jean-Baptiste Legouge, who is passionate about roasting, is happy to tell customers about the secrets of making coffee. Located on rue de la Chouette, a stone's throw from the Square des Ducs, it's an opportunity to take a short break on the terrace to taste local and natural coffees, like those found at the Caféothèque in Paris. The menu is renewed every three weeks and the espresso, whether lungo or ristretto, costs two euros. The icing on the cake is that the house offers green coffee and infusions made from coffee cherries. Jean-Baptiste is still inspired by his trips to Italy to compose his menu, with for example the delicious Bicerin from Turin. Finally, for those who are not convinced, you can enjoy Christine Dattner's tea or opt for a beer or a fruit juice.

terrible visit
the staff behaved as rudely as possible, they mocked us because they had nowhere to seat us, there were 4 last tables, and they kicked us out of the cafe shouting “goodbye”

Unexpected Offer: A Family with a Child Suggested to Dine in the Restroom?

Review:

We visited this café, anticipating a pleasant breakfast, but encountered a situation that seemed more like a bad joke. Despite clearly seeing several free tables, we were informed the café was fully booked. When we explained that we had come specifically for a quick bite, perhaps just some pastries and coffee, and would only need about 15-20 minutes, we were shocked by their alternative offer – to sit in the restroom. Yes, you heard right. With our child, who was visibly hungry, they suggested we dine in the restroom.

To make matters worse, the staff found humor in our predicament, laughing amongst themselves at our expense. This was not just a lack of hospitality but a complete disregard for us as customers, especially considering we were with a child. We were asking for little, merely the opportunity to have a quick meal.

We hope sharing our experience will help others make informed choices and prompt the café management to reconsider their approach to service. Understanding and empathy towards families, particularly those with children, were sorely missing from our experience.
