Dijon's archaeological museum retraces daily life in Gallo-Roman times thanks to excavations at Mediolanum.

Housed in the main wing of the former Benedictine abbey of Saint-Bénigne, the permanent collections present a panorama of man's presence in Burgundy from prehistory to the Middle Ages, through the region's key sites: Dijon, Alesia, Les Bolards, the sources of the Seine and Mâlain. For children, new activities every season allow them to enter the fascinating world of archaeology at their own pace. This year's program includes numerous themed tours and the European Night of Museums on May 18 from 6pm to midnight!

Closed on public holidays. Low season: open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, 9:30am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 6pm. High season: Wednesday to Monday, 9:30am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 6pm. High season from April 1 to October 31. Free admission. Guided tour: €6, concessions: 3€ (reservation recommended by phone 03 80 48 88 77). Store.

Musée gratuit permettant de voir les découvertes archéologiques du Paléolithique à l'époque mérovingienne réalisées à Dijon et dans diverses communes de Côte d' Or et en particulier aux sources de la Seine. Compter une bonne heure de visite dans de très jolis locaux. A ne pas manquer.

Since visiting The Well Of Moses, very nearby, I became obsessed with Mister Sluter. This Museum has fragments that may or may not have been part of the former Well. A puzzle not yet resolved. Anyway, those fragments alone are worth the trip to this museum. Faites vos yeux!
