HAI BAR YOTVATA NATURE RESERVE
This small piece of the Arava Valley was chosen to become the main centre of the Time Bar project. In Hebrew, Time Bar means "wildlife". It is a question of reintroducing into Israel the fauna of the desert that inhabited the country at the time of the Bible. The 12 km ² reserve was closed in 1964 and the animals, mostly from Africa, live in the semi-wild state. The tour takes place at the wheel of his car. Ostriches, dorcas gazelles, wild donkeys, oryx, and Saharan antelopes (addax), recognizable by their twisted horns, can be seen. The reserve also houses two aviaries intended for the reception of wounded birds and the Predator Center. Most predators in the Sahara and the Negev are present: the leopard, the lynx, the sand cat, the African wild cat, the fennec, the starving fox, the striped Hyena, the Jackal, etc. You can also observe animals night in the dark room, a poorly lit piece: rodents, bats, nocturnal raptors (the owl scare) and reptiles. Nourrissage of predators occurs late in the afternoon. Read: another reserve of the same name is located in the north of the country near Haifa: the Hai Bar Carmel Nature Reserve.
