Home to the kings of Burgundy, Château d'Époisses was first built in the 6th century. Many historical figures have lived here, such as Queen Brunehaut, or stayed here, including the Grand Condé, Chateaubriand and Queen Elizabeth II. Designed on a polygonal plan, the château was completely remodeled in modern times. Today, the main building is still very well preserved, as is the superb dovecote with its 3,000 niches. Époisses cheese tastings are organized for groups to combine culinary and historical heritage.

Visite faite entre 17h30 18h00, et pendant tout le temps de cette visite, le "jardinier" arrosait le cours de tennis du domaine . En cette période de sécheresse et le classement de cette commune en alerte renforcée, la pédagogie sur le coût d'entretien d'un tel monument perd de son intérêt.
