Located 1 km south of Estonia, Ainaži once specialized in shipbuilding. The museum is a branch of the National Maritime Museum in Rīga. It is the memorial site of the first Baltic naval school, where future Latvian and Estonian captains studied. The exhibition tells the story of the creation of the navy school as early as 1864, and of the construction of the Baltic fleet in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
