SAN SALVADOR MONASTERY
Monastery housing a church with a splendid neoclassical altarpiece and an interesting museum of sacred art
Founded in the 10th century by Osorio Gutiérrez, the monastery of Romanesque origin has been transformed several times during its history. It has two cloisters, one of which is Baroque. The facade of its church was used as a draft for the construction of the Obradoiro of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. It houses a splendid neoclassical altarpiece. In the chapel of Nuestra Señora de Valdeflores, we can see the tomb of Don Osorio in paleochristian marble.
