JAGAT SHIROMANI TEMPLE
Temple architecture inspired by South Indian temples, with repetitive friezes on the base and gopuram statues
This temple of the beginning of the XVIIth century was ordered by the Kanakwati queen, following the premature death of her son. It differs from the other temples of the village by its architecture which brings in several inspirations. After climbing a few steps, you pass under a toran, a stone portico with garlands typical of Jainism. The temple is inspired by the temples of southern India. One finds in particular repetitive friezes on the bottom of the platform. The statues of the gopuram are replicas of those of Khajuraho for some.
