FORT DE BISSAU
Massive old red fort overlooking the city with a splendid medieval-style bastion, located near the Venkat Bihariji temple
This massive old red fort dominating the city was built between 1751 and 1755 by Keshri Singh, son of Shardul Singh, a great Muslim lord. On the western side there is a splendid medieval style bastion, the Hazari Burj. Nearby, the Venkat Bihariji temple dates from 1852. The fort cannot be visited and if you want to spend a little time inside, the guard will ask you for a hundred rupees. It's up to you if you are curious. For our part, we politely refused, because the fort is drifting away.
