Twice a year, for 9 nights, the goddess of the Rat Temple is celebrated. Hindu devotees flock in their thousands from all over Rajasthan to pay homage to the one who dedicated her life to the oppressed communities. On this occasion, the idol representing the goddess is adorned with garlands of fresh flowers, a golden crown, festive clothes and delicate jewelry. The doors of the temple open at 4am and the Brahmin begins the ritual ceremony. The pilgrims march in with offerings and are blessed by the Brahmin.
