MAHARANA PRATAP MUSEUM
Museum featuring a succession of kitschy rooms retracing the battle of the city of Haldighati using papier-mâché figurines
The battle of Haldighati saw Prince Maharana Pratap confront Man Singh I, Akbar's commander of troops, in 1576. Pratap's army would have numbered 3,000 men, compared to Man Singh's 40,000. Despite this numerical imbalance, Pratap won the battle, but lost his trusty steed Chetak. A memorial has been erected for him not far from the site of Haldighati. The guided tour of the museum is compulsory (departure every 30 minutes). A succession of rooms, each more kitschy than the other, retrace the battle using cardboard miniatures.
