Located in Erath, the Acadian Museum highlights the history and folklore of the region with exhibits focusing on Cajuns and Creoles, including political figures, musicians, religion, military history, lifestyle and more. The Acadian Room includes artifacts from the 17th century and an exhibit on Joseph "Beausoleil" Broussard, the leader of the first Acadians to settle in Louisiana in 1765. Cajuns are very militant in defending their identity and the recognition of their culture.
