The inhabitants commonly known as the Hillians Fox, the name derived from Samuel Fox, a liberated African slave who had several hectares of land in 1801. The legacy of African culture is present more than in any other village. The annual Fox Hill Day event celebrates the emancipation in 1838 of the then slaves for the British.
