It's raining, it's wet, it's a frog party... Except every 1st weekend of July, because the Frog Festival organized in Herrlisheim-près-Colmar generally benefits from generous sunshine! For 18 years, this popular event has been THE first festive event in the Colmar vineyards. Placed under the aegis of the friendly batracian, this fiesta is a huge nod to the nickname given to the inhabitants of Herrlisheim nicknamed the... frogs! The festivities begin at 6pm on Friday with a drink, tarts flambées and a concert under a big top. A dance floor is set up on the town hall square for the Saturday night ball. On Sundays there is an aperitif concert and folk entertainment followed by lunch and an afternoon of dancing. As a high point: long live the election of Miss Frog! During these three festive days, you are invited to taste Alsatian-style frog's legs, frog's legs pies and other hams on the spit... all washed down (in moderation of course) with good local wines. Wink: if you come in costume, the aperitif is free!
