OLSZTYN CASTLE
We do not know by whom and when the first castle was built, but that of Olsztyn is certainly one of the oldest of the Jura Krakovien. The first mention of the castle dates from 1349. At that time, Casimir the Great would have ordered to demolish the previous one, or would have transformed it from the base. Originally it consisted of a tower of 20 meters, houses and a small courtyard, all surrounded by fortifications. In particular, there were those sentenced to death. There are many passages and corridors in the underground, making it real labyrinths. The castle had to bear many assaults and was burned by Swedish troops in 1655. Since then, he has never recovered his splendor and in 1772 the abandoned ruins have disintegrated, to trample on Olsztyn. It is now being restored. A castle that visits by focusing on what the domain could be during its hours of glory. You are particularly recommended for sunset in the middle of its ruins. It would be much more in Ireland or on Scottish land than in Poland. In the adjacent park, many children's games and beautiful statues hanging on sons, recalling those of the pedestrian bridge Ojca Bernatka in Krakow.
