GULGONG PIONEER MUSEUM
Museum presenting the way of life of Gulgong's inhabitants, as well as objects, clothing, agricultural machinery and horse-drawn carriages.
The first profitable lode in Gelong was discovered in April 1870 by Tom Saunders on Red Hill. While at the beginning of that year only 500 people were in the goldfields in the area, by 1872 about 20,000 people lived in and around Gulgong. In the end, between 1870 and 1880, about 15,000 kg of gold were removed from the prospected gold fields. This museum presents the lifestyle of the people of Gulgong at that time, with a wide variety of artifacts, clothing, farm machinery and horse-drawn carriages from that period.
