CALALA COTTAGE MUSEUM
This cottage, built in 1875 for Tamworth's first mayor, tells the story of the town and its region.
Located south of town, near the banks of the Peel River, Calala Cottage is Tamworth's oldest residence. It was built in 1875 for the town's first mayor, and was then on a different site. It was moved to this site in 1984 by the Rotary Club of Tamworth West. A true relic and memory of the town, it now serves as the City Museum, presenting the history of Tamworth and the surrounding area. All this is presented in a perfectly reconstructed late 19th-century interior.
