BORDERTOWN VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE
Bordertown Tolmer Park is a must-see tourist attraction in Bordertown. Located along Tatiara Creek, this park features magnificent old red eucalyptus trees and extensive lawns. Interpretive panels and a walk through the park will give you a brief overview of the history of the Bordertown area. The picturesque park is also home to several works of art in red wood and outdoor tables and chairs. Overlooking the park is the Morning Loaf bakery, built around the former police station. Next door, the former prison has been converted into a toilet facility. Well worth a visit. Tolmer Park is named after Police Commissioner Alexander Tolmer, who established the gold escort route between Mount Alexander (near Castlemaine, Victoria) and Adelaide. The Dukes and Western highways pass close to this original route. Tolmer Park is part of the original horse meadow. The park is open weekdays from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
