Ben Lomond is a large plateau, surrounded by steep cliffs, which dominates the plain of Launceston. It is thesecond highest peak in Tasmania, reaching 1 573 m. It is one of the favorite destinations for hikers but also, between July and September, for skiers. You will have the chance to see in summer and winter Bennett wallabies as well as wombats and Forester kangaroos. You can hike from Carr Villa to Alpine Village (1.5 hours one way) or from Alpine Village to Little Hell (1.5 hours round trip).
