RUGINOASA PALACE
In this small town of 6,000 inhabitants, 10 kilometers from Paşcani and 61 from Iaşi, stands a curious all-white palace. Built in 1811 in neo-Gothic style, on the orders of a local high-ranking official, Săndulache Sturdza, it was home to the first reigning prince of the United Principalities, Alexandru Ion Cuza (1820-1873). In 1862, the prince bought the palace from the Sturdza official, and his wife took charge of furnishing it. Today, it's a museum dedicated to Cuza. The church, built in 1801, later became the palace chapel.
