Set in the Vrancea mountains, this region offers a wealth of natural wonders and a rich history. The town of Focșani, the county capital, is known for its role in the Union of 1859, which laid the foundations of the Romanian state. The mausoleums of Focșani, Marasti, Marasesti and Soveja bear witness to the importance of the First World War in the region.
