KUISEB CANYON
This canyon offers an arid and majestic decor with the colors of its rocks.
This surprising canyon was formed by digging in the rock of the river Kuiseb. The colors of its rocks strike the visitor in an arid and majestic scenery. Several "spots" along the road allow to stop and take some pictures without going down to the bottom of the canyon. The place is famous for having sheltered two German geologists who had taken refuge here in the desert to avoid being interned during the Second World War. They lived here in total autonomy for two and a half years: a beautiful hideout!
