GOBABIS HILL
Orange paintings located on the eastern side of the hill, halfway to the summit, describing several animal species.
The orange paintings are located on the eastern side of the hill, halfway to the summit. Although their age has never been clearly defined, it is estimated that they are about 4,000 years old. The paintings are believed to have been drawn by San Bushmen. They depict several animal species: eland, sable, hippopotamus and giraffe are the most easily distinguished. The San would have mixed animal fat with plant extracts and iron oxide. Be careful though, as Savuti is a known leopard and lion den!
