ORIENT PEARL RESTAURANT

This chic restaurant is not in Pearl, but on the Corniche, a stone's throw from the National Museum of Qatar. It's famous for its fountain show: water jets playing fireworks to a musical symphony. It's kitschy yet fascinating from its pleasant outdoor terrace. The restaurant serves Syrian cuisine, as well as Arab specialties cooked over a wood fire, such as Safiha Bel Banadoora, mutton with pomegranate paste, tomatoes and onions. Upstairs: banquette lounges with giant screens are packed on match nights.
