RACING & EQUESTRIAN CLUB
The beautiful Arabian horses launched like arrows on the green ring. Remarkable for its grace, the thoroughbred is a horse that stands out from other breeds for its size, its curves and the fineness of its limbs. Intended for Gallop races, this breed was created in the 17th century across the Channel, from Arabian thoroughbred stallions and English mares. This horse, sought after for its physical abilities, speed and power, is known to be difficult to tame. All trainers dream of seeing their horse take the start of the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe one day. It is the consecration of all their efforts and long term work. For years, they have been training thoroughbreds to become true champions with the hope that one day one of them will become a legend. Today's thoroughbreds are descended from the crossing of English mares with Arabian stallions imported from the Middle East. All modern Thoroughbreds are descended from three Arabian stallions imported from the Middle East in the late 17th century. These three stallions are The Byerley Turk (1860), The Darley Arabian (1700) and The Godolphin Arabian (1724). A beautiful illustrated book to learn more, Horses of Qatar, by Vanessa von Zitzewit, ed Te Neues Gb. The entrance is free and on presentation of your ID, you are given a free racing program which allows you to participate in a lottery, betting being forbidden (by Islam).
