The village of Al Mafjar located between Al Ruwais and Al Ghariyah beaches, along the coast, was abandoned after the advent of oil and the end of pearl fishing, like other villages in the northern region of Qatar. There is an interesting mosque minaret still standing, all facing the sea. The historical site is fenced, but there is a camping spot for caravans, next to the ruins, on the beach where swimming is not dangerous for children, a ghost village atmosphere.
