There are few new hotels outside Doha. Al Shahaniyah, on the outskirts of Doha, is known for its camelodrome, camel racing and the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum. Now it's home to a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel - relatively affordable luxury for Qatar. Immense, with an equally vast swimming pool, it is very mineral and relies here on its traditional stone architecture. The princely Arab style is grandiose here.
