SURANA HAVELI
One of the most imposing mansions in Shekhawati, built in 1870 with 1,111 windows and doors on 6 floors and giant doors
Built in 1870, the Surana Haveli is one of the most imposing mansions in Shekhawati. This superb building, the highest in the city, is still called the "Hawa Mahal of Churu", the Palace of the Winds, because of its 1,111 windows and doors, its 6 floors and its giant doors that once let elephants and camels pass through. It was built on the initiative of two rich Jain merchants, the Kothari and the Surana. The frescoes have been somewhat damaged by time, but the grandeur of this house should leave you breathless.
