THE LADY NELSON VISITOR CENTRE INFORMATION
Visitor Centre in Mount Gambier, home to Lady Nelson, a copy of the superb 60-ton topsail brig.
One cannot forget to admire, in front of the Visitor Centre entrance, the copy of the superb 60-ton topsail brig, Lady Nelson, the original of which dated from 1799.
It was a 60-ton sailing ship built in 1799. It was the first ship to sail along the coast of South Australia. However, the ship was destroyed in 1825 by indigenous people from Baba Island.
The Discovery Centre also features an audio-visual exhibit on the history of the area and its geology.
