It is a paleontological site inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1994. The caves of Naracoorte are 500,000 years old. Of the 26 caves discovered, some are open to visitors and contain the remains of prehistoric animals, trapped here by the collapse of the ground several million years ago. The site is very popular and one of its most popular attractions is the Bat Cave, where thousands of bats live.
